About Dr. Grosser
I spend much of my clinical day talking with men and women about shoes. I have been a practicing orthopedic surgeon specializing in foot and ankle since 2005. What I have found most often and routinely is that people do not wear the right shoe for their foot type. This is what leads to many of the problems in the feet as well as knees, hips, and back. Surgery does not always “fix” the problem. Surgery does not recreate the original “factory model.” It can correct deformity and stabilize painful joints, but it comes at a cost…typically 3-6 months of recovery depending on what is required. I have found that wearing the right shoe can more often than not improve pain to a point that surgery may not be required. This philosophy is not a very productive one for a surgeon to have but in my experience, this is a truth. One I believe in, personally, with my own physical problems as well as my patients, who time and again respond to this approach.
In an office, I am limited to location and time restriction. I hope that having this website will allow me to engage with more people who need educated direction to better shoe wear. Those who care about protecting their feet and joints from damage. People who realize the body and not the mind should dictate what is appropriate to wear daily. I hope to share different approaches and daily regimens that improve and protect the health of your feet.?? I am interacting with the shoe/fashion industry from a different perspective. I continue to learn new things from the patients I am with and plan to continue learning and sharing the knowledge I glean. Our bodies are dynamic and ever changing—come with me and explore what is out there for your specific life situation and musculoskeletal problem(s) as it relates to curren fashion/comfort/work shoe the industry is making and what is available to you and appropriate for you.
